Alison Hammond reveals Tinder blunder which matched her with men she wasnt interested in

Alison Hammond has revealed a hilarious dating app blunder which left her matching with the wrong men on Tinder.

The TV presenter was talking to This Morning co-host Dermot O'Leary on the show about new research which suggests men who posted photos of themselves with dogs on dating apps are more likely to be looking for something more serious.

Men who said they were looking for a relationship and whose profiles featured pictures of dogs, tended to be 'more likely to settle down' , according to research published in Evolutionary Psychological Science.

The research led Alison to share her own dating app story, where a misunderstanding in how the apps work led to her matching with guys she didn't fancy.

"Can I just say when I went on a dating app, Tinder…. basically I was swiping the wrong way! So when I liked them, I was like swiping them up," she explained

Horrified, Dermot put his heads in his hands and asked: "Hang on, if you go left you don't like them?"

"So I was swiping the wrong way so I had all these people going, 'I don't like them!' And they were all the people that I was saying, 'yeah they're fine'," Alison said.

Dermot then asked: "Did you go on the dates?" to which Alison replied, "No, I didn't, I just came off the app! I was like, 'I can't do it!'"

It's not Alison's first foray into dating apps. Earlier this week, she revealed to OK! that she'd been rejected by celebrity dating app Raya.

When quizzed on her love life, she said: "It’s not, if I’m honest, but I might go on Tinder again soon. I tried to get on that celebrity dating app, Raya, but they wouldn’t accept me – I was fuming.

"I’ve been waiting for a year to be accepted so I’ve deleted the app now. Who needs Raya anyway when you’ve got Tinder?!"

The presenter – who has a teenage son with her ex Nourddine Boufaied – also explained she's had trouble getting people on apps to believe she's really who she says she is.

Alison revealed: "It’s so hard. They say, 'Why are you using Alison Hammond as your profile picture?' and I go, 'Because I am Alison Hammond.' They’re like, 'Sure you are.'"
