Coleen Nolan sheds two stone after going vegan: Getting off the sofa was hard work

Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan has lost two stone thanks to her switch to a vegan diet, but has has told fans that her new plant-based eating habits were “never about losing weight.”

The 56 year old panellist spoke to Bella Magazine about the weight loss, admitting that she missed McDonalds milkshakes since making the switch earlier in the year.

She said: “I feel much better than I've ever felt. I've changed my diet and had my teeth done, which I just love. I've always wanted them done, but I thought I couldn't spend so much on my teeth. Now, I can't stop smiling and showing off my expensive new teeth!”

“I thought, 'if I'm not careful, I'm going to be hitting the mobility scooter before I turn 60'. My back and hips were bad and everything hurt. Getting off the sofa was hard work.”

Her daughter Ciara, 20, showed Coleen some documentaries that covered the health benefits of a vegan diet.

Coleen revealed that she felt the benefits of the diet “instantly”.

'I think I've probably dropped a couple of stone. I was 16 on top, but now I can get into a 14. With trousers, I was an 18-20 before, and now it's more 14-16. The weight loss was just a bonus. Me going vegan was never about losing weight“

Coleen recently spoke exclusively to OK! About her sex life with her new mystery guy.

She said: "Who knew that I was still alive down there! I thought it was dead and gone and buried."

Coleen revealed that the pair had called off the relationship a couple of times before giving herself a pep talk one night.

Coleen continued: "He didn’t play games and it freaked me out a bit. But then I had a good old chat with myself one night after I’d finished with him. I went to bed and thought, 'What am I doing?' I had to make myself believe that I was worth it. I didn’t want a player any more.”

Coleen has been busy at work promoting her new book Live. Laugh. Love: Lessons I’ve Learned.

In the book, she goes through her past relationships with actor Shane Richie, 57, and musician Ray Fensome, 63.

She added of her new man: "Everything I wanted them to be, he is, but without me asking! He’s just a lovely, lovely man. He’s kind, he’s romantic. He’s all the things I’ve been looking for really."
