A clip of actors Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac at Venice Film Festival went viral over the weekend – and for good reason.

Fans lost it on Saturday when Chastain and Isaac, who were promoting their upcoming film Scenes From a Marriage, gazed into each other’s eyes, embraced and shared an eyebrow-raising kiss.

A slow-motion clip of Isaac smooching – and seemingly sniffing – the inside of Chastain’s arm captured an extremely intimate moment between the co-stars, who are both married with children.

Comparisons to Gomez and Morticia Addams flew, and Chastain playfully responded on Sunday by tweeting a black-and-white image of The Addams Family couple similarly engaged.

“We were all blessed to learn no one will ever look at us the way Oscar Isaac looks at Jessica Chastain,” AJ+ journalist Sana Saeed wrote.

“Interesting choice to award the Golden Lion to that slow mo Getty images clip of Oscar Isaac kissing Jessica Chastain's arm but I respect it,” Little White Lies editor Hannah Strong tweeted.

Chastain, 44, and Isaac, 42, have been friends since they were students at the Juilliard School in Manhattan.

The longtime pals previously played a couple in the 2014 film A Most Violent Year.

But Chastain and Isaac's viral moment is not the first time we've witnessed a public display of affection between celebrities.

We might be raised to believe that PDAs are gauche and rather unbecoming. For celebrities, however, they're invaluable.

PDAs act as shorthand, alerting the paparazzi to a new affair… or promoting on-screen chemistry.

Bruce Willis famously played up for the cameras with his wife, Emma Heming, at the German premiere of A Good Day to Die Hard in 2013.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen shared a tender moment after his contribution to the film Selma won the Best Original Song gong at January's Golden Globes.

And never one to pass up a red–carpet PDA opportunity, Nicole Kidman swooped in on her husband, Keith Urban, at Paddington's London premiere in 2014.

But red carpet PDA can range from super sweet, to kinda raunchy, to downright bizarre.

Actor Megan Fox and musician Machine Gun Kelly made quite the impression as they stepped out on the 2021 Billboard Music Awards red carpet with a very amorous display.

Fox kept her hand right in her boyfriend's crotch to pose for a photo while their tongues touched.

Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan's performance at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards was also rather baffling.

In a series of fairly strange photos, Cyrus could be seen alternately hanging onto Lil Xan while leaning away from him, gently pushing him away while he pressed his nose into her face, and holding him as he nuzzled her shoulder.

The not-so-discreet butt grab also seems to be a staple of over-the-top red carpet PDA, as perfectly exemplified by none other than Kanye West.

Appearing with then-wife Kim Kardashian at the 2015 Grammys, the musician squeezed her sparkly dress-clad backside with two hands, as if he was about to fall over and Kardashian was the only thing keeping him upright.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry also made headlines for showing their affection in a particularly big way at the London premiere of Arthur as a grinning Brand squeezed then-wife Perry's bottom.

And then there was the time Travis Mills licked Madelaine Petsch's hair at the MTV Awards…
