Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper could remain in hospital until the end of this year.
Derek, 53, was admitted to hospital in March 2020 after showing symptoms of coronavirus. He was put into an induced coma to help his recovery and woke up for the first time in October last year to tell doctors he was in pain.
The deadly bug "attacked everything", leaving him with kidney failure, damage to his liver and pancreas, as well as heart failure after beating the virus.
Nearing the end of 53 year old Kate's ITV documentary, Finding Derek, which aired on 23 March, a note appeared which read: "His doctors have extended the option of keeping him in hospital… until December 2021."
