Kate Garraway, 53, and Roman Kemp, 27, became friends following their stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! late last year. The Good Morning Britain host has kept in touch with the radio DJ who said he is trying his best to be there for the TV presenter during this difficult time.

Speaking in a new interview, Roman admitted he has been “sending messages” to Kate everyday.

“All I can say is Kate has all the love in the world from myself and my dad and my whole family,” he told Metro.co.uk.

Roman went on: “We’re praying for her every day and we’re always sending messages and doing whatever we can to make her life any bit easier.

“And I think it’s a real thing that makes everyone put their own life into perspective, because what she’s going through right now is more important than anything.”

In her first television appearance since Derek, 52, was admitted to hospital with coronavirus in March, an emotional Kate said: “He’s still with us. He has fought the most extraordinary battle.

“But you know, the fact that he is still here and is holding on. I’m just so grateful he’s still here. And I’ve got the option of praying and hoping.”

She continued: “He is very, very sick. And as time goes on, it’s a virus, it’s a little bit like a computer virus, there seems to be a flicker of hope and then other things emerge and he’s fighting that.

“It’s affected him from the top of his head to the tips of his toes.”

The GMB star went on to explain that Derek is now “Covid free” but his journey to recovery will be a long road ahead.

The presenter has been unable to see her husband Derek in the flesh after he was hospitalised at the end of March.

He has since been taken out of an induced coma but has yet to regain consciousness.

Meanwhile, Kate recently broke her social media silence to send a heartfelt message to her ITV colleague and friend Eamonn Holmes on Instagram.

She has not been posting much on social media as she continues her break from work at home.

However, this did not stop her from sending a warm message to the This Morning host’s daughter Rebecca.

Kate posted a series of love hearts on a sweet snap of Rebecca posted by her adoring dad Eamonn.

Meanwhile, Kate’s GMB colleague Susanna Reid opened up on how Kate is in her thoughts during this difficult time, in her Daily Mail column.
