Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Kevin Clifton, 37, has opened up about his concerns about one of his dance performances with EastEnders actress Kellie Bright in 2015. The Grimsby-born dancer revealed how he “started to stress” about the message they were giving off at the time.

The message of it is a break-up.

Kevin, who quit the dance competition show earlier this year, looked back on the year he was partnered up with Kellie, who is best known for playing Linda Carter in EastEnders.

Speaking about one of their performances on The Kevin Clifton Show podcast, he addressed the time they danced to Take That’s Our Love Ain’t Here Anymore.

The dancing champion divulged: “At first, I was like, at least it’s a Take That song that everyone knows.

“Not a really downbeat song that nobody knows.”

He went on to discuss: “But then I started to stress that Our Love Ain’t Here Anymore.

“The message of it is a break-up,” he explained to his listeners and the soap star.

“It’s quite sad. And I felt like me and you were connecting well as a partnership, and I was like, people don’t want to see me and Kel not getting on in this dance.”

Kevin admitted: “Maybe I was overthinking it.”

However, Kellie proceeded to reassure her former dance partner: “No! I don’t know.

“I think things like that play a huge part in Strictly.”

The actress went on to tell the 2018 winner: “I think all that storytelling in terms of couples, partnerships and chemistry, and all of that is actually quite important.

“So I think you probably know more than you thought you did, and actually, your gut was probably telling you something.”

However, Kevin continued to add: “But I didn’t know what to do with it for ages.”

Meanwhile, Kellie recently brought up what her biggest regret was while she was on the show five years ago.

The star explained her thoughts around one of their dances where they were dressed in Harry Potter outfits.

The Linda Carter actress shared on the podcast: “I felt drowned in my costume because we had big cloaks on and lots of layers,” to which Kevin chipped in with: “The hair was massive.”

She continued: “And I felt for me, as much as I really loved the idea of it and wanting to do it, actually in hindsight, I’ve never told you this actually.

“Obviously after doing the show I’ve become an uber fan and watched everything, and watched you like a hawk when you were my dance partner.”

Kellie proceeded to confess: “I realised what an amazing Paso dancer you were and how amazing your Pasos have always been on the show. I actually felt a bit sad that I hadn’t got to do the proper Paso with you.”

In response to the BBC favourite’s admission, the dancing pro interjected: “Oh no! That breaks my heart!”
