Love Island’s Megan Barton-Hanson slams ‘rude’ girls for tormenting new arrivals

Former Love Island finalist Megan Barton-Hanson has hit out at this year's girls over their heckling of new arrivals to the villa.

Maura Higgins and Elma Pazar made a confident entrance to the ITV2 show last night, and Maura in particular took on the challenge to impress the boys and infuriate the girls in equal measures.

Inviting Danny Williams, Tommy Fury and Michael Griffiths to cook them a meal and spend time with them on a one-to-one basis was enough to bring out the catty side of Molly-Mae Hague and Amber Gill.

Their behaviour has been slammed by 25-year-old Megan, who starred in the villa last year, where she wooed Wes Nelson and almost bagged the top prize.

Posting on her Instagram , Megan called out the girls for their behaviour, while giving her support to ring girl Maura to 'crack on' with the boys, especially boxer Tommy.

The cat-calling and insolent behaviour was uncomfortable for viewers and Megan joined the condemnation, writing: "The way the girls on the terrace are acting is plain rude."

She went on to say that new arrivals are 'part of the game' and the Islanders should be fully expecting newbies to come in and upset the apple cart.

Megan's swipe continued: "You go on that show knowing bombshells will come in, gorrrn Maura it’s fair game, crack on beaut @maurahiggins – love the more they are acting up the more she gives it."

Viewers were equally incensed by the reaction, as Michael specifically let Amber know that he found the heckling "embarrassing".

Taking to Twitter , one viewer wrote: "The girls in # loveisland are like a bunch of 12 year olds. And Amber's reaction to maura was awful!! Rude sod! Makes me laugh, literally even barely know the guys and so unbelievably jealous. Pathetic."

Maybe once they get to know the new girls, they will all become besties, or maybe they won't.

Love Island airs all week at 9pm on ITV2.
