Piers Morgan entered into a furious Twitter row with Amanda Knox as they clashed over her 'interview snub'.
Amanda recently made a tearful return to Italy, where she was jailed for four years after being convicted of the 2007 murder of her housemate Meredith Kercher, 21, before being cleared on appeal in 2015.
Piers lashed out at Amanda, accusing her of self pity, but she hit back, exclaiming that he'd begged her to be on his show a number of times.
Sharing a picture of Amanda speaking on stage, Piers said: "Out of respect for Meredith Kercher's poor family, Amanda Knox should stop her self-pitying 'all about me' victim tour – and shut up."
She re-tweeted his post and added: "Says the guy who's begged me to be on his show multiple times, and I've turned him down every time."
Piers then suggested Amanda couldn't be trusted to tell the truth by bringing up her false claim that bar owner Patrick Lumumba was involved in Meredith's murder at her flat in Perugia.
Lumumba spent two weeks in custody before a witness gave him an alibi and Amanda later admitted she had made it up, resulting in three years being added to her jail sentence.
Piers said: "I think we all know why you might wish to avoid interviews with British TV journalists, especially those like me who once worked with Meredith’s father. Mine would start with this question: your lies sent an innocent man Patrick Lumumba to jail, so what else did you lie about?"
Meredith's family have called Amanda's return to Italy for the first time since she was cleared "inappropriate".
Burglar Rudy Guede, 32, was convicted of Meredith's sexual assault and murder and is currently halfway through his 16-year sentence.
