The ‘Get the Party Started’ hitmaker cites Polio vaccine which proved to save lives as she calls out anti-vaxxers who stage walkouts for being ‘late to the party.’
AceShowbiz -Singer Pink has blasted Californians who are refusing to get their COVID jab despite a statewide vaccine mandate.
The “Get the Party Started” hitmaker has tweeted her support for the law, which went into effect on 1 October (21).
The Golden State is the first in the U.S. to mandate vaccinations for eligible teachers, staff, and students attending classes in-person at public and private schools for grades seven through 12, although several anti-vaccine holdouts are staging walkouts in protest.
On Sunday (17Oct21), Pink criticised people who are opposed to the mandates, citing existing car safety laws and the polio vaccine, which saved lives when it was introduced in the 1950s.
“To anyone participating in the ‘state wide walk out’ in opposition to vaccine mandates…. Where were you when they made us start wearing seatbelts and not having polio???? Late to the party!!!! #keepingkidssafesinceforever #dontwantmeaslesneither (sic),” she wrote, alongside several middle finger emojis.
Some Twitter users praised the singer, with one person replying, “I’m a happily vaxxed teacher who wears a mask daily! I love to be in the same room as the amazing children that I teach. I will be getting my booster VERY soon. I want to be able to be near my loved ones as much as possible!”
The pop star, real name Alecia Moore, responded, “Me too! (Well I’m not a teacher) but happily vaxxed so I don’t kill people by accident! Give me the booster somebody!!!!!”
To someone who responded that the decision to get their shots is “our choice,” the singer replied, “I wish it was the nurses and doctors choice not to care for you when your dumb a** gets sick (sic).”
As of Monday, her initial tweet has received 18,000 likes and been retweeted 1300 times.
