Mark Labbett, known as The Beast on The Chase, has spoken out after legions of fans asked why fellow Chaser Shaun Wallace hadn’t been picked to play at all in this series.

The quizzer said in view of his 149,000 Twitter followers: “Poor Shaun, hasn’t been picked to play once so far 🙁 #BeatTheChasers.”

Many fans responded to Mark by expressing their anger that he hasn’t been picked.

Kayla said: “Why isn’t he being picked, unfair.”

HKPhooey echoed: “But why? Really annoying to watch, frankly.”

Andrew added: “I did wonder if he was there. Is it a cardboard cut-out?”

Shelley joked: “He’s not bothered. He still gets paid, and he’s sat there blacked out playing Pointless slyly on his phone.”

Meanwhile, a The Chase fan page pondered: “Strange the producers put these games in the same episode with the same five Chasers each time and all players have had £4k cash builders.”

Shaun and Mark are the longest serving Chasers, having appeared on the show since its inception in 2009.

Anne Hegerty – a.k.a. The Governess – joined in 2010, followed by Paul Sinha in 2011 and Jenny Ryan in 2015.

The newest quizzer is Darragh Ennis, who made his first appearance in 2020.

In an interview with Express.co.uk, Shaun said the Chasers are all good friends, despite some on-screen clashes.

The star, whose nickname on the show is the Dark Destroyer, spilled: “We just get over it, we’re all human and we’re going to make mistakes.

“The banter and the camaraderie is as strong as ever.”

Fans were stunned after Monday night’s celebrity edition of Beat The Chasers saw actor Clive Mantle win a whopping £100,000 for The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

He managed to rack up £3,000 in his cash builder round, but then had the intimidating challenge of going head-to-head with the Chasers.

They offered him a range of cash prize options, with the caveat that the more money he played for, the more Chasers he’d be up against.

However, Clive decided to go big and take on five Chasers for a £100,000 jackpot with a 19-second time advantage.

Following the episode, fans said they were “on the edge of their seat” and rushed to Twitter to congratulate Clive on his huge win.

ShakyWoon commented: “Clive Mantle has #BeatTheChasers! £100k for his charity! Incredible!”

Samantha remarked: “I actually feel a bit emotional!!! Well done Clive!”

Nick added: “Absolutely love #BeatTheChasers! Edge-of-your-seat viewing and SO epic!”
