Queen emotional during moving Platinum Jubilee tribute to Prince Philip

The Queen appeared emotional as a moving tribute was paid to her late husband Prince Philip at the Platinum Jubilee celebration at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on 15 May.

Her Majesty, 96, who was recently seen for her first outing in six weeks despite her health issues, got a little misty eyed as her granddaughter Lady Louise drove the late Duke of Edinburgh's carriage during the finale of the 'Gallop Through History' segment of the show.

Lady Louise, who is the daughter of Prince Edward and wife Sophie, looked in her element as she donned a khaki green blazer with a white shirt underneath as she sat in the front of the carriage.

The 18 year old inherited her grandfather's love of carriage driving and is often seen at competitive events, including at the British Indoor Carriage Driving Championships last month.

Carriage driving was a favourite past time of Philip, who even represented Britain at several world and European championships himself.

Royal fans took to Twitter to speak out on the poignant moment as one person wrote: "The Queen was so emotional today, especially when she saw Prince Philip's carriage. You could see it in her eyes."

Another shared: "It’s wonderful to see HM the Queen out and about. I’m not surprised she went really especially with Lady Louise riding Prince Philip’s horse and carriage HM looks very well and happy #GodSavetheQueen," followed by a smiling emoji, praying hands emoji, crown emoji and a red heart emoji.

While a third added: "Lady Louise driving Prince Philip's carriage as Queen Elizabeth watches is [two pink heart emojis]".

With performances from theatre companies, musical segments from Keala Settle and Katherine Jenkins, the Queen looked truly humbled to be a part of the event.
