ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly, 61, has taken to Twitter to share “the sad reality” that she isn’t qualified to take on a job in Antarctica. The Celebrity Gogglebox star shared a recruitment post from the British Antarctic Survey’s official page this morning in view of her 643,000 followers and admitted her disappointment.
The post read: “Closing tomorrow 13 June!
“#CoolJobs including Mechanical Maintenance Technician to help maintain our #Antarctic Research Stations over winter.
“Please spread the word!”
Lorraine wrote alongside the post: “The sad reality when I realise I’m not qualified for any of these !”
Jobs advertised in the post included a position as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, a Mobile Plant Mechanic, an Apprentice IT Service Desk Engineer, and a Supply Chain Logistics Coordinator.
Most of the jobs, apart from two, are based in Antarctica.
Fans took to the comments section of Lorraine’s post to share their thoughts on her sad admission.
One person wrote: “You don’t know what “the and many more…” means? Sure they could find you something x.”
Another added: “You’d be a fabulous supply chain logistics coordinator.”
A third fan suggested: “You could be their chief reporter? Don’t forget your thermals.”
“Oooh it says “and many more” though,” a fourth person commented.
Lorraine has previously shared her love for Antarctica and even went for a dip in its icy waters during a dream holiday as part of her 25th wedding anniversary celebrations with husband Steve Smith in 2017.

The star’s trip to Antarctica saw her follow in the footsteps of her hero, Sir Ernest Shackleton.
Speaking about the holiday with her other half at the time, Lorraine told the Sunday Post: “I’ve always been fascinated by explorers and in Shackleton’s day Antarctica was like going to the moon.
“He was a remarkable man and I’ve been an admirer since childhood.
“I’m heading to Antarctica, Elephant Island and South Georgia, following the route of Shackleton’s Endurance Trans-Atlantic Expedition.
“Steve will be filming for my show, and I’ll be writing about the journey. I will, of course, be visiting his grave, raising a glass and toasting ‘the boss’.”
Lorraine shared her icy swim with ITV viewers at the time, as she stripped down to her bikini and braved the cold waters.
She said on the programme: “This is a first for me, this is Antarctica… and I’m going in.”
Lorraine could then be seen removing her furry hat and warm coat to reveal a pretty bikini before taking the plunge.
