Kate Middleton launched the Hold Still photography project last May, which invited people of all ages, from across the country to submit a photographic portrait which they had taken while being in lockdown. It is now being turned into a book to create a “lasting record” of the nation’s experience of lockdown.
In a foreword for the book, along with a gorgeous snap of the Duchess with a camera in her hand, Kate wrote: “When we look back at the COVID-19 pandemic in decades to come, we will think of the challenges we all faced – the loved ones we lost, the extended isolation from our families and friends and the strain placed on our key workers.
“But we will also remember the positives: the incredible acts of kindness, the helpers and heroes who emerged from all walks of life, and how together we adapted a new normal.
“Through Hold Still, I wanted to use the power of photography to create a lasting record of what we were all experiencing – to capture individuals’ stories and document significant moments for families and communities as we lived through the pandemic.”
The campaign attracted more than 30,000 entries last year, with 100 final images later chosen to appear in a digital exhibition as well as in community exhibitions across the UK.
The royal also crowned the winner of the project at a special virtual awards ceremony in September.
To mark the launch of the book on May 7, Kate looked stunning in the photo taken by Matt Porteous.
Holding a camera, the Duchess smiled into the distance in what fans are calling a “candid” snap.
She also opted for a red wine coloured jumper with cuffed sleeves and detailing around the neckline.

Kate kept her sleeves rolled up and added a frilly blouse under the crewneck sweater.
It isn’t the first time the Duchess has worn this jumper.
It appears to be the same one that Kate wore in the Cambridge’s Christmas card last year.
The royal has also added her frilly blouse under jumpers many times before.
Standing in the Anmer Hall grounds, Kate added minimal jewellery to the look, with just a pair of small gold hoops visible.
The earrings are reportedly by Orelia, costing just £15.
She previously wore them last week for a virtual video call with Prince William.
Her sapphire engagement ring which previously belonged to Princess Diana was also on show.
She styled her hair in loose bouncy waves and her brown locks were pulled to one side over her shoulder.
Kate also opted for her signature natural makeup with bold eyebrows and a strong contour.
Fans took to Twitter to share how stunning Kate looked in the new picture.
One person wrote: “Best news to wake up to! Hold Still is going to be turned into a book. How gorgeous does the Duchess look in this photo?”
Another said: “Omg she always looks so gorgeous, look at the sun shining on her face.”
A third Tweeted: “Her cheek bones are so chiselled, what an amazing side profile she has.”
