Viewers took to Twitter to speculate over what was said between the pair, with many questioning if the Duke of Sussex had instructed the Duchess of Sussex to face forward

However other Twitter users suggest the prince might have been saying something else to Meghan, or could have been speaking to another member of the family standing nearby.

The exchange has not yet been verified by a lip reading expert.

For the festivities, which marked the Queen’s official birthday, the Duchess of Sussex was stood in front of her husband, and behind James, Viscount Severn, 11, and Isla Phillips, seven, who were at the front of the balcony.

At the start of the clip, the royals can be seen chatting among themselves, with Harry turning to away from Meghan to speak to someone on his left.

Several Twitter users agreed that it looked as though Harry had told Meghan to ‘turn around’

His aunt, Sophie Wessex, cousin Lady Louise Windsor and Princess Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank were all standing nearby.

A short time later, as if joining in on the conversation, Meghan turns around to speak to her husband.

The change in position means the back of her head is now towards the cameras and the thousands of well-wishers gathered outside Buckingham Palace.

The Duchess appears to say something, prompting a brief reply from Harry.

After half-turning to face the front, Meghan turns back around once more, at which point Harry appears to glace meaningfully towards his grandmother the Queen.

The Duchess faces forwards and the national anthem begins shortly afterwards.

Social media users pointed out that Harry’s look to the Queen could be an unspoken signal that the national anthem was about to start. Others noted that Meghan stayed facing forwards after the brief exchange, leading them to deduce Harry’s words.

However more other viewers claimed it was more likely that Meghan faced forwards simply because the music started playing, as James, Viscount Severn, Isla and Sophie Wessex all seemed to settle around the same time.
