DEAR DEIDRE: OVER half-term, I took my boys on holiday to Tenerife.
They are aged eight and six and live with their mum and it was nice to get a week with them. I am a single man.
We went to a hotel with a kids’ club and met a single mum there, with two boys of nine and five. She is 31 and I’m 30.
The kids had a brilliant time together – and so did we.

We live at opposite ends of the country but messaged when we got back about how much we missed one another.
We arranged to meet during the Christmas holidays.
But she’s gone cold on me and I’ve not heard from her for a week.
I’ve got that feeling in my stomach.
DEIDRE SAYS: There could be many reasons for a week’s silence – one of her sons may be ill, for example – while you are home alone and every day feels like an eternity.
But the truth is that living far apart is an obstacle to developing a relationship.
Don’t write her off yet but keep your social life busy.
