Royal the Queen trusts and relies on most – and it’s not Charles, Kate or Meghan

The Queen has a supportive, dedicated and loyal family her who are always eager to please and help her whenever they can.

Her four children and eight grandchildren take on their fair share  of royal duties, and as she begins to take things a bit slower at 93 she has handed some of her patronages down.

And it's not just her direct relatives who are around her, and she also relies heavily on their partners, especially the senior ones including the Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan Markle .

But there is one member of the family who insiders say the Queen really enjoys spending time with, and it's not who you might expect.

A royal source told the Sun that the Monarch will often ask Sophie Wessex to join her in the car on their journey to church if they are both in Sandringham or Balmoral.

The Countess of Wessex is married to Prince Edward, the Queen's youngest son, and the couple have two children Lady Louise Windsor and James Viscount Severn.

The insider said: "The Queen likes to be completely calm before church and she finds Sophie’s presence soothing."

When Sophie married Edward she decided against becoming a working royal, insisting on continuing her work in public relations.

The insider added: "She is trusted and relied on by the Queen in a way I couldn't say applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall.

"She is like another daughter to Her Majesty, they are that close."

Edward is the only one of the Queen's children who is still married to their first partner, which the source says the Queen "knows that is in no small way down to Sophie’s dedication – she is aware, as his Edward’s mother, what a tricky creature he can be".

And the Queen isn't the only member of the Royal Family who looks to Sophie for help, and she has reportedly been an "unofficial mentor and ally" to Meghan Markle .

Royal Biographer Katie Nicholl revealed in  Grazia  that the Queen "earmarked" Sophie as a royal mentor for Meghan.

The two -in-laws spent time together at  Royal Ascot  last year and are believed to get along well.
