The experts explained how one can achieve Charlene’s cut and style, and how to maintain it every day. For anyone thinking about braving a shorter haircut this winter, or in the new year, they also went on to note which kind of faces would suit this look the most.
Celebrity hairstylist Cally Borg, whose clients include Amanda Holden and Billie Piper, said: “Charlene’s look is best suited to oval or heart shaped faces and surprisingly some round faces.
“The colour is either a full head scalp bleach which is then toned or a highlight tint depending on the base you are colouring over and the desired shade of blonde.
“The cut is short and tidy around the sides and back, achieved by either using clippers or scissor over comb technique, it’s longer on top and rounded through the corners to complement the head shape, and it’s been cut into to create a little bit of texture but is left just long enough to brush back using a gentle styling cream or soft wax.
“This cut is super easy for day to day styling but higher maintenance when it comes to keeping it neat and tidy – because the perimeter is short, the hair will quickly grow over the ears and start to lose its shape after six to eight weeks.”
As well as those with oval or heart shaped faces, Cally went on to say that “women of most ages can totally rock this look”.
However, she stressed that the length should be “adapted to suit the individual’s hair texture for styling – for example, straight hair may need to be longer on top to allow it to push back as straight hair tends to stick up if it’s too short”.
Luke Benson, who has styled Billie Eilish’s hair, agreed that Charlene’s hairstyle is one that, if done correctly, could suit anyone willing to give it a go. He said: “It’s a haircut that suits any age, and can be worn sleek like this or more textured depending on your mood.”
The stylist continued: “I love Charlene’s hair, it reminds me of Charlize Theron. A perfectly executed short haircut for a woman that stays feminine, soft and beautiful.
“I would take a horseshoe section at the top and square layer the sides, then connect that top layer to the sides, but point cut the top to retain softness.
“Then, once dried, personalise by taking away weight or razoring any heavy areas. It looks great blonde, you can use a global bleach or high lift technique as I think the one colour adds to the beauty. Then you can also have freedom in your toning options.”
Jason Collier, celebrity hairstylist and Bblonde brand educator, also said he loves Princess Charlene’s hairstyle. “It is so effortlessly chic and really shows off the glow of her face,” he told Express.co.uk.
“A Pixie haircut suits all ages, hair colours, textures, and face shapes – it is universally a gorgeous style that is easy to achieve, maintain and style.

“For those who are middle aged it’s a great length if you’re wanting to try something shorter that doesn’t take a lot of maintenance but still makes an impact. Plus, you have so many more styling options than you might think.
“You might choose to cut your hair gradually over time, but if you are diving straight into getting a Pixie cut – go to a professional. They will be able to determine the layers and structure of the Pixie that will suit you.
“For Charlene’s style, you can see that it’s short on the sides with really subtle layers going up the head and then longer on the top. There is still length on the sides and she’s not opted for any form of fade styling.”
Jason added that “the golden shade of blonde is perfect for middle aged women – when it comes to choosing a blonde shade, go for a warmer hue as those warm tones will pick out the warm undertone of your skin”.

Neil Capstick, managing director at Salon Promotions, also revealed how to achieve Charlene’s stylish cut.
“We’re seeing that Pixie cuts are becoming more and more popular with salons predicting the Pixie cut to be the next big look for 2023,” he explained.
“This hairstyle favours almost all face shapes but I tend to find that more oval face shapes are ideal for this type of cut as this style offers angles to soften roundness. However, for those who might not naturally suit this short style can tweak it to make it more their own. You can opt for a more undone look by softening areas such as the fringe, if your face is slightly rounder.
“To style a Pixie cut, I would recommend choosing products that aid in adding texture and hold to ensure it keeps its shape. For this type of style, I would recommend using a good styling cream like Neal & Wolf’s Silk Smoothing Blow Dry Balm.
“This will put an end to any tangles and frizz for sleek, straight, and silky-smooth hair. Perfect for styling the Pixie cut.”
