DEAR DEIDRE: TWO years ago I had a car crash and the long-term pain affects every aspect of my life.
My wife and I hardly speak to each other and my kids won’t spend time with me because I’m so grumpy.

I’m 42, my wife is 39 and we have two daughters, aged nine and seven.
Although I look fine now, my leg was badly broken and still hurts. I get constant pain up that leg and into my back. A good night’s sleep is four hours. Some nights I can’t close my eyes at all.
My partner actually said if things don’t get better, I need to think about leaving the family. I’m devastated.
DEIDRE SAYS: To live with such constant pain is debilitating and it is no wonder you are grumpy.
It sounds as if you might also be suffering with depression, which under the circumstances is totally understandable.
Please go to see your doctor and ask for help regarding your mental state, as well as your physical pain.
You should also get in touch with painconcern.org.uk (0300 123 0789), which can give support.
