Where was The Great British Bake Off filmed in 2021?
We're all familiar with the huge white tent which plays home to Bake Off every year, but it's the huge sprawling fields around it which has piqued the interest of viewers.
Arguably Britain's most famous tent, for the past two years it has pitched up on the grounds of the very posh Down Hall.
Situated on the Hertfordshire and Essex border, in a town called Newman's End, the luxury accommodation is one of England’s longest-established country hotels.
The luxurious venue was first used for Bake Off in 2020 – before that the show was filmed in the grounds of Welford Park hotel in Berkshire.
When was Bake Off 2021 filmed?
This year's GBBO filming took place between late May and early July.
Like last year, however, the contestants, crew, presenters and judges had to form a Covid secure bubble for the duration of filming.
Speaking about this on ITV's Lorraine back in May, host Matt explained: "We're starting [filming] very soon.
"And, like last year, we're going into a bubble – we're all self-isolating and getting tested and then we're going into Covid-free bubble, so we can all taste each other's bakes and there can be handshakes and all sorts."
How long did the contestants stay at Down Hall?
The Bake Off contestants spent six weeks in the hotel, which was empty due to the coronavirus.
In usual circumstances, Bake Off contestants film episodes at the weekends.
But the new series was shot two days on and two days off as part of a new schedule and to work around the coronavirus restrictions.
The cast were allowed to bring their partners and children to stay with them at the hotel while they were filming.
Contestants were also tested for coronavirus during filming to make sure that everyone stayed safe.
