SHEFFIELD UNITED face plenty of competition for Brentford striker Neal Maupay.

Blades boss Chris Wilder worked with the Frenchman at Griffin Park and is understood to be hopeful of a reunion in the Premier League.

But according to the Mirror, Sevilla are also keen on the £20million-rated hitman, who scored 28 goals last term.

Jay Rodriguez and Oli McBurnie are both targets for the Bramall Lane club as well.

LEICESTER CITY talisman James Maddison is taking any speculation about a possible move to Old Trafford in his stride amid strong interest from the Premier League giants.

The 22-year-old – who is set to face France with the England Under-21s tonight – claimed he is unfazed by the transfer rumours surrounding him amid reports he is worth more than £60million.

Instead of a distraction, Maddison claimed the talk around his future should be a “compliment” – and means he is doing something right on the pitch.

Now a mainstay in the Leicester side, he stepped his game up even further under new boss Brendan Rodgers, drawing the eye of the top clubs – including Manchester United.

But when asked whether the rumours affected him, he told Sky Sports News: “No, you have just got to ignore that and take it all in your stride.

“As a 17-year-old boy, I'd started five games for Coventry and saw on my phone that I was being linked with Tottenham and Liverpool.

“With transfer talk, you need to take it as a compliment that people are even talking about you, it won't distract me.”

MARCUS RASHFORD is “nearing completion” of signing a new Manchester United contract, reports claim.

Old Trafford chiefs were rocked by the revelation Paul Pogba is seeking a “new challenge” but have received a boost with Rashford close to agreeing a new long term deal.

The Times report the England star is hashing out the final stages of negotiations in order to secure his long term future in Manchester.

SunSport revealed United bosses could have to fork out up to £350,000 a week in order to keep the 21-year-old and fend off interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.

It is understood talks over a new deal began last year as the player enters the final 12 months of his current contract this season.
