Arsenal agree deal to loan out Harry Clarke to Hibs until end of season after recalling defender from Ross County

ARSENAL centre-back Harry Clarke is set to be shipped out on loan to Hibernian after he was recalled from his spell at Ross County.

The 20-year-old impressed during his time at Victoria Park where he chipped in with three goals and two assists from his 17 matches.

But the Gunners have activated his recall clause with the Staggies sitting 10th out of 12th in the Scottish Premiership.

And SunSport understands that an agreement has been reached with Hibernian, who are currently in fifth spot in the Scottish top-flight.

Hibs made a swoop to bring the defender to Easter Road on loan until the end of the campaign on Sunday night with new boss Shaun Maloney a huge admirer.

Clarke, who featured against Hibernian in pre-season, will now join the Edinburgh outfit this week instead of reporting back at County.

His exit will be a bitter blow to County boss Malky Mackay in his bid to keep the 2016 League Cup winners up.

The ex-Cardiff gaffer has thanked Clarke for his short time at the club following his hugely successful period.

He told County's website: "Although we are disappointed to be losing Harry, I would like to thank him for his contribution in the last six months.

"I think he has become an even more rounded player in that time.”

“I hope he feels his time spent here in Dingwall has been enjoyable and we would like to wish him well in his career going forward.”

England youth international Clarke joined Arsenal from Ipswich in 2015, with the youngster signing his first professional contract three years later.

Clarke spent last campaign on loan at League Two outfit Oldham, where he featured in 35 matches in all competitons.

The player made his Arsenal senior debut against Hibs in a pre-season friendly on July 13 in a 2-1 defeat where he started alongside Pablo Mari.
