Ben Brereton Diaz transfer odds – Brighton lead Newcastle, Leeds and West Ham for Blackburn star after £30m+ valuation

BRIGHTON are the leading contenders to sign Blackburn Rovers star Ben Brereton Diaz.

That's according to bookmakers Sky Bet, who've installed the Seagulls at 3/1 to clinch the striker's signature before the transfer window closes on February 3.

Brereton-Diaz is enjoying a stellar campaign at Ewood Park.

The 22-year-old has bagged 19 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions, including three braces and a hat-trick.

His exploits have Blackburn in third position after 23 matches — four points behind Championship leaders Bournemouth.

The Stoke-on-Trent-born forward has also received international attention for his displays with Chile.

Brereton-Diaz made his La Roja debut against Argentina in June, and has three goals in nine games.

But Blackburn now risk losing their striker — who is contracted until June 2022 with the option of a further year — in January.

Several Premier League clubs are showing interest with Brighton the frontrunners at odds of 3/1.

Newcastle and Spanish heavyweights Sevilla are next in the betting at 10/1.

English quartet Leeds, Norwich, Southampton and West Ham are all locked together at 20s with AC Milan the outsiders of the pack at 33/1.

Though keeping Brereton-Diaz would bolster Blackburn's promotion hopes – manager Tony Mowbray says he wouldn't stand in the way of a January sale if the club received a bid in excess of £30million.

Mowbray explained: "Ben's situation is an interesting one.

"From a club perspective and my personal relationship with Ben, I think he would like to finish the job here.

"And yet I'm not his advisor. I'm fully aware that is someone comes in with an offer that is unbelievable, then I would advise the owners not to stand in his way.

"I'm not worried about Ben. I hope he stays, I hope he scores 40 goals for us this year and enjoys a fantastic season.

"But if somebody bids the money that we can't turn down and it's life-changing for Ben Brereton Diaz, then who am I to stop him from earning £100k-per-week and living in a foreign country where he wants to go with his partner."

Asked whether £15m would constitute an 'unbelievable offer', Mowbray replied: "How much?

"Adam Armstrong went for £15m [to Southampton] and Ben's going to score nearly twice the goals Armstrong did, and he's younger.

"Think about doubling it and you might be getting somewhere!"
