A Place in the Sun viewers rage at couple after they commit cardinal show sin

A PLACE in the Sun is the programme home buyers want to take part on when they are looking to buy a property abroad.

And fans love watching those taking part find their dream properties and the obvious delight when their offers are accepted.

But Wednesday's episode on Channel 4 saw viewers raging at a couple after they committed the show's cardinal sin.

Those tuning in were less than impressed when Julie and Alan enlisted the help of property expert Jean Johansson to successfully find them the perfect home in Alicante, Spain – only for them to fail to put in an offer, because they didn't have their finances in order.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: "So they came out to buy but didn’t have the money ready to buy anyway?!!! #APlaceInTheSun".

"They haven’t got the money. Pair of wasters. #aplaceinthesun," fumed another.

A third raged: "Why didn’t you make sure your finances were sorted beforehand! Messers!! #aplaceinthesun".

While a fourth commented: "Time wasters. Need to sort out things at home. Why are they there in first place #aplaceinthesun."

Another added: "Not ready to buy? WTAF are they doing on this. Jean didn’t qualify them at all. #APlaceInTheSun."

While another quipped: "They just wanted to be on a show!"

The pair wanted until the end of the show to admit they were holding off on purchasing – despite falling in love with a spacious three-bed property with a communal pool.

As Jean asked if she should put in an offer on their behalf, Alan said: "Well, I would say, not just yet.

"It's right up there, but I think perhaps we need to go home, sort ourselves back home…"

"Yeah, in England, because we're selling back home and I think we need to get that out the way, come back and then see it," interrupted Julie.

"After about four or five weeks if it's still on the market, then come back and then hopefully we're gonna push forward with it.

Host Jean pointed out: "And what happens if it's not on the market in three or four weeks?

"Then it's our loss," admitted Alan, before the couple said they'd also like their children to come back and look at the property with them.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays from 4pm on Channel 4.
