Dancing On Ice fans have taken to social media in shock after Colin Jackson became the latest celeb to be voted off the show.

Colin was the first skater to be given their marching orders during the live ITV final meaning they officially took home bronze in the competition.

The result means that it's left to Sonny Jay and Faye Brookes to battle for the title of 2021 champion.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Shame about Colin as his dances were the most fun tonight however Faye has been the winner since she first stepped on the ice."

Another added: "Colin should have won," alongside a sad emoji.

A third continued: "I'm glad Sonny Jay got through but I really wanted Colin to go through as well."

During the first half of Sunday night's show, all celebs skated twice in a bid to win over the nation.

While the four judges were still in their seats and critiqued each skate, their scores had no influence over who won this year's show.

Only the public had the power to decide who finished third, second and first.

This year's series was cut short last month after being plagued with a string of medical set backs.

As more and more contestants suffered injury ITV bosses made the unprecedented decision to take a week off to give everyone time to recover.

However, this still wasn't enough and producers pulled the pull early.

The flurry of bad luck started in January when Celebrity Gogglebox regular Denise Van Outen was forced to quit after shattering her shoulder.

Initially in the incident meant that her professional skating partner Matt Evers was also out of the competition – apart from group skates.

However, just weeks later fellow professional skater Hamish Gaman was ordered by doctors to quit the show after snapping a tendon in his finger while off the ice.

Hamish's injury meant Coronation Street starlet Faye Brookes was left on her own prompting ITV producers to reinstate Matt by paring him up with the actress.

The number of drop-outs became so bad that even Phillip Schofield joked to co-host Holly Willoughby that they could soon have to take to the ice last month.

Following Densie's exit both Rufus Hound and Billie Shepherd were also forced to quit the series.

Then Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren Plant had to call time on his Dancing On Ice days after testing positive for Covid-19.

Joe-Warren said in a statement at the time: "Having tested positive for Covid this now means the end of the competition for Vanessa and I.

"I have loved every minute of being a part of Dancing On Ice and I am disappointed as I feel I had so much more to give and was working hard to perfect each performance."

Compounding on the trail of injury, Jason Donovan was then advised by doctors to stop his role in the show after injuring his back.

The gutted actor released a video statement admitted while he was devastated by the outcome, he had to put his health first.
