Coronation Streets David Platt star teases downfall of Stephen .

Coronation Street’s latest villain Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) has been terrorising his family right under their noses, without a whiff of suspicion. After returning from Milan, Stephen began to set in motion a plan to steal all of Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money, but after killing Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) he began to spiral. Official spoilers teased that Stephen goes to extreme lengths to continue his tirade, but David Platt star Jack P Shephard had teased things could all come to an end at the hands of his family.

The Platt family are unaware that Stephen has ill intentions when it comes to his reasoning for coming back from Milan.

So far he has managed to go unnoticed and has begun to set a new plan into motion, but could his criminal days be over soon?

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other press about the Platt family not knowing what Stephen is up to, Jack explained: “We don’t and that is the way that we want it because we don’t want to die.

“Everybody else can find out, they end up in the bins, but not as we are oblivious to it all until he gets arrested and we go ‘Stephen we never knew!’

“That would be ideal for us. If anybody sort of crosses Audrey then you cross all Platts, so we want no harm to come to Audrey, so we might have to step in if he does.”

In recent scenes, Stephen began to plant the seed in the family’s head that Audrey is drinking “heavily” again.

Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) wasn’t convinced by the lies so Stephen set out to prove that Audrey couldn’t be trusted and stole her antidepressants.

His intentions were for Audrey to become intoxicated, and possibly overdose which would prove she couldn’t be trusted.

If Stephen goes too far and ends up hurting or killing Audrey, could the Platt family connect the dots and expose his criminal past?

Jack also touched on Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) exit from the show after fans were fearful she was going to be Stephen’s latest victim.

Julia has recently begun her maternity leave after giving birth to her second child, a daughter with her husband Ben.

She is set to leave the soap in upcoming scenes, as Jack explained: “It’s not dramatic at all. I can tell you she goes off to look after Lily Platt (Brooke Malonie) in London, she is doing some football-soccer tournament thing.

“She needs a chaperone and she goes, ‘I’ll help, I’ll do that in London for six weeks while she goes off on maternity leave’.

“Because the last time she went off on maternity leave she got shot, she had brain damage, so what are we gonna do? Are we gonna do that again?

“So no, it is just going to be run of the mill, she goes off, she comes back.”

Taking to her Instagram to announce the birth of her daughter, Julia wrote: “On Saturday our little girl arrived.

“We’re absolutely elated and Franklin is besotted with his little sister, Emmeline Beanie Silver. She’s perfect.” (sic)

In June 2022, Julia shared the news that she was expecting her second child as she unveiled her bump on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards.

She and her husband Ben previously welcomed their first child, named Franklin Wolf Silver, in 2019.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
