Corrie fans recognise newcomer Lucy Dixon as teen star from Waterloo Road

Coronation Street fans don't miss a beat, and they quickly worked out where they have seen newcomer Lucy Dixon before.

Actress Lucy Dixon, 31, recently made her big debut on the iconic ITV soap as the mysterious lady alongside Curtis Delamere, and her entry onto the Cobbles left residents worrying about Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) who is smitten with Curtis.

It comes after loved-up Emma has just begun dating new arrival Curtis – played by former Ackley Bridge actor Sam Retford – and many have been suspicious of Curtis who they think might have been lying to Emma.

However, it turns out that Danielle has been supporting Curtis during a serious medical situation – as he is suffering from a critical heart condition that is a terminal illness.

It became clear that support group friend Lucy was not actually Curtis' girlfriend or estranged wife – like Emma's dad Steve McDonald first thought – simply a friend who has been helping Curtis deal with his tragic personal issues.

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick off the mark to work out where they'd seen actress Lucy before – and they realised that she's starred in some major TV shows.

Corrie isn't Lucy's first soap role either, because she played the role of impulsive teen Tilly Evans in Hollyoaks from 2011 to 2014.

Before that, she rose to fame by playing schoolgirl Danielle Harker in BBC drama Waterloo Road between 2007-2010 – alongside Denise Welsh who has also gone on to star in Hollyoaks.

Curtis' shocking health secret was exposed after Emma's protective dad Steve took to investigating the handsome lad on Monday night's episode.

Suspicious Steve had been searching for Curtis in the Bistro when he saw him with Danielle, and he initially assumed he was cheating on Emma so he was fuming with the lad.

After giving hunky Curtis an earful, Steve eventually found out the heartbreaking truth.

Curtis had tried to keep his secret safe and pretended he was cheating on Emma instead before he finally confessed to Steve that he is battling a terminal illness – and that Danielle is a member of the support group.

He also confided that he could "drop dead" at any moment due to the nightmare heart condition which has left doctors puzzled.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
