Coronation Street star Simon Gregson is a Weatherfield legend. The 46-year-old actor has portrayed Steve McDonald in the serial drama for an incredible 33 years, with only a few short breaks in-between.

After first being introduced in 1989, Simon's character has endured a litany of tragedies and tough times.

As well as suffering the bereavement of his young son Oliver last year, the character has survived a marriage to Tracy Barlow and a painful divorce from Michelle Connor.

He was also imprisoned for two years in 1996 but was gifted an early release and returned to the cobbles the following year.

Despite the turmoil of his and Tracy's relationship, Steve now lives with her, their daughter Amy and Ken Barlow.

In real life, Simon's residence is just as busy but a lot more comfortable than 1 Coronation Street.

Stunning home

Simon has been in a long-term relationship with his wife Emma Greave, who he married in 2010, for many years.

The loved-up couple live near Wilmslow in Cheshire with their three sons Alfie, Harry and Henry Teddy.

Simon boasts 133,000 Instagram followers but he has shared more photos of his lush pad with his fans on Twitter, where he is followed by over 271,000 users.

The actor has previously shared snaps of the family's cute dogs sitting on the wood-decked patio of their home.

The brickwork detached property boasts a cosy living room and kitchen space, where Simon enjoys hanging out with his brood.

Liam Gallagher feud

Decades ago, Simon took part in one of the most random celebrity feuds of all time.

In June last year, former Oasis front-man Liam Gallagher revealed that the pair clashed outside the Corrie studios.

The band were making their television debut at the time of the incident, with their hit song Take Me.

Liam previously told The Sun: "The guy who is in Coronation Street, Steve McDonald, I was walking down the road with my jacket on and he's come out and he's staring at me and I'm staring at him and he's giving me looks back and I've gone, 'What you f****g looking at?"

He added: "And he's wound down his window and flipped the bird at me and then I've chased him down the road.

"And he wound his window up and drove off and I kept catching him at lights."

While Simon has pledged to have a pint with Liam, it doesn't seem as if he's been taken up on the offer yet.

Name change

Simon Gregson actually isn't the Steve McDonald actor's real name.

The alias was given to Simon, whose birth name is Simon Alan Gregory, when he was old enough to join the British Actors' Equity Association.

There was already a person with Simon's original name on their books, resulting in the Gregson moniker fans know and love today.

Wife's spat with co-star

Simon's wife Emma Gleave hit out at his co-star Sally Ann Matthews after the actress told a fan that autographs from the soap stars should be free.

Simon sells video messages to fans online, and his wife quickly leapt to his defence on social media, when Sally wrote in response to a fan: "Write to us at Trafford Wharf Road. We do them for free!

"You should never pay for an autograph (or a video message come to that) x."

Emma responded: "Wow!!!! Nothing like sticking together with your work colleagues!" before adding in a tweet she later deleted: "Grow a set of balls and tell ur cast members ur opinion."

Sally didn't publicly respond to the message.
