EastEnders’ Danniella Westbrook back in hospital for more surgery

EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook is back in hospital for more surgery.

The Sam Mitchell actress was taken into hospital at the end of October following a sinus infection that could’ve spread to her brain.

Fresh updates at the time revealed that Danniella was out of ICU and considering surgery options to prevent a repeat trip further down the line.

‘She is being seen by a specialist over the next few days to discuss options and surgery to stop this from happening again,’ an insider said.

‘We hope she can be well soon and out of hospital very soon, [especially] as it’s her birthday next week, she’s a fighter, that’s for sure.’

Danniella is said to be seeing a palliative specialist in order to avoid any further complications with the infection.

The source added to The Daily Star that the infection had ‘spread so quickly, she’s deteriorated very quickly.’

Posting on her Instagram earlier today (November 19), Danniella confirmed she is in Aintree University Hospital ‘waiting to go to theatre’.

‘Feel so overwhelmed and full of hope and gratitude. Huge thanks to the most amazing surgeon and NHS team’, she wrote on her social media post.

Recently, Danniella underwent the first of four reconstructive surgeries to ‘rebuild’ her face following years of drug abuse.

The former EastEnders star posted a video on her Instagram Stories just before the operation, explaining to her followers:

‘We have to get it all done before the major surgery starts in a couple of months’ time so it’s the build up to minor surgery, so wish me luck. Scared!’

Danniella has played Sam Mitchell in the BBC One soap on and off since 1990.
