Furious Good Morning Britain viewers slam Adil Ray for 'patronising' woman who is refusing to pay energy bills | The Sun

ANGRY Good Morning Britain viewers criticised host Adil Ray today as he clashed with a woman who is refusing to pay her soaring energy bills.

Don't Pay UK member Louise is taking a stand against the spiralling cost of energy on the day the price cap increased by 80 per cent to £3,549.

TV guest Louise appeared via live video link with GMB hosts Adil, 48, and his co-star Kate Garraway to discuss the rising prices.

She revealed that she was halting her payments to energy companies as a protest for the spiralling cost of energy.

However, Adil was seen hitting back against Louise as he told her to fully explain the dangers of not paying – and suggested it could cause big problems for energy companies.

Fans were left furious that the presenter had spoken to her with a "patronising" tone as he interrupted the guest live on air to suggest viewers "talk to energy providers".

Activist Louise tried to explain: "We're withholding payment – and we're not saying do not pay for your fuel bills ever, we're saying for a short period of time, you can miss one payment."

Kate, 55, then tried to rectify the situation, adding: "We can see you're not an irresponsible person and I thinkpeople will understand where you're coming from.

"I guess what Adil is trying to do is make sure that everybody knows the consequences and makes it very clear."

Viewers at home were left furious over Adil's dismissal of Louise's strategy, as they slammed him for "not understanding".

"So you advise us to 'talk' to our energy providers regarding help. Any of you tried to speak to yours lately? Good luck with that," one viewer angrily hit back on Twitter.

"FFS Adil you sound so patronising, can't you see the British public are worried about surviving in the current crisis, and making a stand. Something you don't have to worry about," a second agreed.

"Why do you invite people on to speak and then don’t listen to them and constantly interrupt!" a third fumed.

While a fourth asked: "Has Adil has been roped in by the higher powers to continue pushing these scare stories?"

It comes after fans were left in hysterics as Adil Ray opened yesterday's show with an unfortunate slip of the tongue.

Returning to the programme after stand-in host Rob Rinder bowed out yesterday, Adil accidentally swore live on air while sitting beside Kate Garraway.

He said: "Could fish and chips soon be off the menu? As environmentalists call for sustainable seafood, we're asking whether it's time to ditch the b*tch… b*tch… [laughs] the British seaside staple. Let us know what you think."
