ITV viewers tuning in to Good Morning Britain on Monday took to social media, where a mixed reaction to the former MP’s return to the show was argued. While some welcomed Ed Balls back, others claimed they were “switching off” over his presenting stint.

Ed Balls is among the few temporary presenters who have been filling in for Piers Morgan since his departure from the show last year.

He hasn’t been on screens for a while though after taking a break from the morning programme.

As the programme started on Monday though, many took to social media to respond.

Twitter user Chelt David wrote: “Seems #GMB are understaffed as well. Can’t think of any other reason why you would have Ed Balls as a presenter. Just when I thought the program couldn’t get any more lefty.”

Ian remarked: “Ed Balls is even more wooden than that Piers Morgan bloke. Can’t they just find someone good and stick with them? #GMB.”

Matthew Watson chimed: “Ed Balls is such a terrible presenter #GMB.”

Richard O’Neill argued: “If I scoured the endless lists of dubious ‘celebs’ and politicians, I couldn’t find a more boring presenter than Ed Balls, well done GMB, yet another switch off!”

Others were pleased to see Ed back though and praised ITV for the decision.

Bex Rix Cherries added: “So happy to see the lovely Mr @edballs back, he has such a great, happy, measured presence.”

Allan Esq shared: “Welcome back @edballs always enjoy you on @GMB.”

“Loving Ed Balls. Not so much because he’s Ed Balls, more because he’s NOT Cringard Madely,” SevenDaysToNoon penned.
