Gogglebox’s Paige Deville claims bosses told her to put HAIR in her food so she could have argument with her mum

GOGGLEBOX star Paige Deville claimed bosses told her to put HAIR in her food so she could have argument with her mum onscreen.

The Brummie lass, 25, sensationally left the show last month "due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions and zero aftercare support".

The beauty business owner said that filming was "tough" because it would start at 3.30pm and finish around 12.30am.

"Filming is tough. You would stop to go to the toilet but other than that you wouldn't have a break. You would eat while filming," she told BirminghamLive.

"At one point my mum had her arm around me for four hours and they didn't want her to move her arm. It isn't as glamorous as you might think. It is very hard work.

"On another occasion, they asked if I would put a hair in my food so I could accuse my mum of giving me dinner with a hair in it just as a source of conversation on the show.

"I once got dolled up for the show and they told me to take my make-up off for a more casual at home look. It was very controlled.

"The whole filming was very invasive. We weren't getting paid much but Gogglebox staff would be using your electricity, your soap, your toilet paper. It started to grate on me."

Paige also revealed that she was paid £100 each per filming session and would be asked to film at the "drop of a hat".

It comes after Paige revealed that she was left terrified after receiving death threats for quitting the Channel 4 show.

Paige said: "I received a lot of positive messages when I left the show from people online.

"But I also received a lot of hate. Really nasty stuff. One person said 'just kill yourself.' I have lots of hateful messages like that.

"This is why I spoke out like I did about the lack of aftercare support shown by Channel 4 bosses. You need advice and support to deal with it. I am not a celebrity just a normal person and it is difficult.”

She continued: "This is the kind of abuse you have to deal with. I am quite a strong person and I can deal with it the majority of the time. But there are times when I do feel down and I read that and it is just horrible.

"Some people may not be in such a good place mentally and it could send them into a very dark place."

Yesterday Paige revealed she no longer speaks to her mum, after appearing on the show with her.

She tweeted: “To clarify, people thinking I fell out with my mom over Gogglebox, My ‘mom’ is an absolute disgrace who I wish to never speak to again due to a serious family issue NOT about a TV show.”

Paige and Sally shot to fame in 2019 when on the 14th series of the show.

They lasted four seasons before calling it quits.

When approached by The Sun Online, a Gogglebox spokesperson said: "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”
