Jerry Seinfeld Pleased to Win ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ Plagiarism Lawsuit

The former ‘Seinfeld’ star has been accused of stealing Christian Charles’ idea for his hit Netflix show, before a New York District Judge rules that the latter waited to long to file the copyright suit.

AceShowbizJerry Seinfeld has won a plagiarism case against a former colleague who claimed the comedian stole Netflix hit “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” from him.

Christian Charles claimed he pitched the idea for the show a decade before it debuted online, but on Monday, September 30 New York U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan ruled he waited too long to file his suit after Seinfeld rejected his copyright claim in 2012.

“Today’s victory is a complete vindication,” Seinfeld’s lawyer, Orin Snyder, said in a statement. “Jerry created Comedians in Cars… and this lawsuit was nothing but a money-grab seeking to capitalize on the success of the show. We are pleased that the court saw through the noise.”

Charles claimed he pitched the idea back in 2002, as “Two Stupid Guys in a Stupid Car Driving to a Stupid Town”.
