Line of Duty season six airs every Sunday evening on BBC One at 9pm. In episode one, it was revealed DI Kate Fleming (played by Vicky McClure) had left AC-12 behind and DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) was looking for a potential way out. Things are not looking great for AC-12 at the moment but will any member of AC-12 die? Creator Jed Mecurio spoke to Express.co.uk and other press about the fate of his “golden trio.”
Will any members of AC-12 die?
Over the past six seasons of Line of Duty, AC-12 members Kate Fleming, Ted Hasting and Steve Arnott have come close to death on numerous occasions.
Line of Duty fans will remember the harrowing moment Steve was hit over the head and thrown down a flight of stairs by a masked member of the Organised Crime Group (OCG) back in series three, something he is still recovering from today.
In series five, Ted found himself being framed by lawyer Gill Biggeloe (Polly Walker). During intense interrogations scenes, Steve and Kate were able to expose Gill which led to a huge shoot out in the office.
As for Kate Fleming, her work as an undercover detective has put her life in danger every day. Things got particularly heated in season four when DCI Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes) unmasked Kate’s true identity.

As a trio, AC-12 also came under fire when Dot Cottan requested an ‘urgent exit’ leading to a shoot out in AC-12 headquarters.
It has been six seasons and eight years of Line of Duty and fans are worried one of the members of AC-12 will be killed off in series six.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other press, creator Jed Mecurio discussed whether he had ever considered killing the golden trio off.
He joked: “It’s never far from my thoughts. Honestly.”
Mercurio continued: “I think we all get on brilliantly, but everybody knows that we’re serving something bigger than ourselves, which is Line of Duty.
“One of the things about the show is that nobody’s safe, it’s what keeps the audience on the edge of their seat.
“So I know it would be a sad day, but I think all the main cast realise that it’s possible. And you know, we are mates, we talk about it, we joke about it and it’s something that no one would relish but everybody would understand.”
Fans are particularly concerned over a scene in the trailer, which showed Kate being held at gunpoint. by AC-12.

6 questions from Line of Duty season 6, episode 1 answered [RECAP]
In the clip, she appears to be standing alongside DCI Jo Davidson (Kelly MacDonald), who AC-12 are already investigating for corruption.
The scene in the trailer and moments from the first episode has led some fans to believe Kate Fleming may actually be ‘H’ and as a result, her life could be at risk.
Even at the end of the official trailer, SDCI Chloe Bishop asks Steve: “Do you believe there is still a fourth man out there?”
Steve replies: “Man or woman?” before the camera cuts to Kate looking over her shoulder.
Now, that may just be clever editing but the OCG are known for their brutality – killing off key witnesses and even bent coppers working with them. If Kate is actually H, her life really could be on the line.
Worse, her association with Jo, who may also be corrupt, puts her life at a much higher risk.
Fans have been sharing their theories about Kate online.
One Reddit user posted: “I have no theory. But does anyone think that maybe Kate is going to come into play as a rotten apple?
“I wouldn’t want her to be but she’s so impeccably NOT bent, she’s never had the spotlight on her and has no moral wavering or corner-cutting. I think it’s almost TOO perfect, Steve and Hastings are always shown as flawed… just want some opinions!”
One fan responded: “We’ve had Steve questioned by AC-12 and Hasting’s arrested and questioned by another anti-corruption unit. Series 6 will be Kate’s turn.”
A third commented: “She could be H for all we know. In fact, Steve and Kate could both be in on it?”
Vicky McClure who plays Kate Fleming remained very tight-lipped about Kate’s fate in the sixth series of Line of Duty when speaking to Express.co.uk and other press.
She said: “I had a great time shooting it you know, it was an explosive series.
“I did have a lot of fun and it’s always great when you turn the page and you know, whether it’s cracking line or some action sequence.
“I’m just very chuffed that I’m in those positions where, you know, lots of that was going on.”
