Love Island's AJ has a little known Royal family link, which saw her brother play a key role at Prince Philip's funeral earlier this year.

AJ's brother, Lance Bombardier Tom Bunker is part of the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, based in Woolwich.

The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery are part of Her Majesty's Mounted Ceremonial Battery, and have been active since 1947.

They are a ceremonial unit, whose responsibilities include the firing of Royal Salutes to mark grand occasions of state. These include The Queen's Birthday Parade, Royal Birthdays, Royal Births and Royal Funerals, such as that of Prince Philip.

The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, including AJ's brother Tom, were responsible for the firing of the processional minute gun at Prince Philip's funeral on April 17 this year.

At Prince Philip's funeral, three World War One vintage 13 pound guns were horse drawn and taken from Combermere Barracks to Windsor Castle's East Lawn.

Following Prince Philip's funeral, Tom's girlfriend posted on Facebook: "So proud of all the work you've put in to make HRH Philip's send off beautiful and respectful.

In addition to taking part in his Royal duties, the team that Tom is part of have also been recognised with awards by the Queen at events such as the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

AJ's brother was part of the Sub Gun Team who received the first ever Best Gun Team award at the Royal Windsor Horse Show earlier this month.

It was inlaid with a golden Driver's Whip, representing the whip carried by the drivers in the Gun Team.

AJ has already caused a stir in the Love Island villa and the rest of the girls were left on edge when they found out a new girl would be joining the island, following the boy's victory in the Stags Vs Hens challenge.

Joining the villa, AJ said: "There is something about Teddy. He’s a bit of me. In terms of being adventurous and spontaneous, I think we’d get on really well."

“I’m a respectful person in terms of morals,” she said, when asked about stealing Faye’s man.

“I’ll definitely approach her and have a conversation beforehand. But I wouldn’t hold back. I feel like we all have a right to get to know the guys in there.

Andrea-Jane is also intrigued by party planner Aaron Francis and PE teacher Hugo Hammond – two contestants who are currently in friendship couples.

Since the latest series began, Love Island has been hit with hundreds of complaints from viewers to the broadcasting regulator Ofcom.

These include over 390 complaints from viewers who felt the treatment towards Hugo Hammond was unfair during a challenge and during an argument that took place.
