Piers Morgan hasn’t shied away from telling his followers about the difficulties he has had getting politicians to join him on Good Morning Britain, and he has claimed Rishi Sunak is the latest to turn down his invitation.
The broadcaster took to Twitter to give his followers an update, revealing that he had asked the Chancellor to be a guest on the show but was once again rebuffed.
He tweeted: ‘UPDATE: Chancellor @RishiSunakhas refused to come on @GMBtomorrow to inform our viewers about his new economic measures for this crisis.
‘This is the 14th day of the Government’s boycott of our show for asking tough questions during a national emergency.’
It comes after Rishi Sunak announced that the furlough support scheme to help those workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic keep their jobs would be extended until the end of October.

The scheme has supported around 7.5million workers in the UK to receive at least 80% of their salary where they would ordinarily have been laid off by their employers.
‘I’m extending the scheme because I won’t give up on the people who rely on it. Our message today is simple: we stood behind Britain’s workers and businesses as we came into this crisis, and we will stand behind them as we come through the other side.’
Piers had tweeted after the announcement: ‘Big and bold intervention again by the Chancellor, which will be welcome news for millions of people.’
He later added: ‘Good evening Chancellor @RishiSunak, I understand you are doing the Govt media interviews tomorrow morning. I presume these will include @GMBas our viewers expect & need to hear from you.’
However, his latest update confirms the interview will not be happening on the show tomorrow.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
