Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) is a man who’s never of afraid of flirting with danger on EastEnders.
After all, he had no qualms about finishing off Ranveer (Anil Goutam) and letting Suki (Balvinder Sopal) believe she’d killed him.
But he’s wading into some very dangerous waters indeed as what started as a flirtation between him and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) seems set to step more than a couple of notches in coming episodes.
The two shared a bit of a moment after they had a heart-to-heart at Peggy’s. Ravi made a pass at Denise but she knocked him back, telling him she’s a happily married woman.
Of course viewers know that’s only half true, as Denise’s marriage hasn’t been very happy at all recently as Jack (Scott Maslen) has sidelined her opinions about his children in the wake of Amy (Ellie Dadd)’s self-harming and Ricky (Frankie Day) getting Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) pregnant – leaving Denise feeling ignored and rejected.
So when Ravi starts paying Denise more attention, it’s likely she won’t be able to resist for long.
Aaron Thiara told us that the attraction between the two is foremost because ‘he feels seen by Denise, and I think perhaps Denise feels seen by Ravi.’
‘Internally, I think there is that magnetic attraction, and that’s playing on his mind and is why he wants to pursue Denise at whatever cost,’ he said.
‘There’s also the thrill of the chase that he really enjoys, he also really enjoys treading on eggshells and stepping into dangerous waters with Denise being a detective’s wife. I think that riles him, I think he really likes that.
‘Internally, Ravi feels like he and Denise really get one another. As the weeks go on we start to see even more of how he opens himself up to Denise, but how she takes that is to be seen.’
It sounds like the drama is certainly going to heat up for the two of them.
‘It’s going to go up a few notches,’ Aaron predicted. ‘Their relationship also has rollercoasters within it, it’s very dangerous. Ravi is seeing how far he can go until he crosses the line, that’s where we’re currently at with it.’
He’s also very much enjoying working with his co-star Diane Parish as they explore this new relationship.
‘Diane is an absolute godsend, she is a Queen,’ he enthused. ‘She is one of those actors that brings out your A-game.
‘She’s so collaborative, she’s so open and honest, she’s an absolute joy, joy, joy to work with.
‘I feel like I fly Diane Parish’s flag very high, I think she’s absolutely marvellous, she’s brilliant. I couldn’t wish to work with someone other than her to be honest.’
