According to one of the ‘Rust’ cast members Ian A. Hudson, his co-stars talked about ‘The Crow’ fatal accident as they were reportedly scared of filming gun scene.
AceShowbiz –Ian A. Hudson has claimed he and his castmates were “scared” shooting scenes for “Rust” due to safety issues on set.
Several cast and crew members have spoken out about their experience filming the movie after Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
The fatal incident occurred after Baldwin discharged a gun that he believed to be unloaded and, speaking to TMZ, New Mexico-based actor Hudson admitted he noticed a lot of things he believed to be unsafe when it came to handling the firearms.
Recalling one shootout scene, he claimed there were cameras and crew positioned behind him on the set in the direction real guns loaded with blanks were being fired, sharing, “That made me question me being in front of the camera and in between all of that fire.”
“When the rounds were released – when they shot at me – I actually did feel the blanks hitting my face and my body, and I could feel the wind from the shotgun being discharged.”
Admitting he believed there was danger given all the munitions being discharged, he acknowledged, “It was heavy. It was strong.”
“I would talk to my fellow cast members afterward and we all agreed how intense that was and how scary and real that was.”
Hutchins’ tragic death has been compared to a similar 1993 incident on the set of “The Crow” that killed actor Brandon Lee – and, according to Hudson, the cast discussed his passing prior to last week’s (ends24Oct21) events, in relation to firearm safety.
“That conversation came up a couple of times,” he recalled. “We’re doing this the same way they did it then, 30 years ago. You’ve got to double-check and you’ve got to make sure.”
Production on the set of “Rust” has been shuttered indefinitely following the tragedy while a press conference is due to be held by the Santa Fe’s Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday to provide an update on the investigation.
