Back in April, the first teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker launched. The exciting new footage ended with Rey, Finn and Poe coming across the wreckage of Death Star II from Return of the Jedi, before Darth Sidious’ evil laugh could be heard. Just how is Palpatine back after Darth Vader threw him to his death? Well, a new fan theory argues that Palpatine’s Force ghost trained Snoke.
Reddit user LtAldoYoung18 theorises: “Years before the second war between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, The spirit of Sidious haunted Snoke his whole life.
“He chose Snoke so that he would finish the job that Palpatine could never do.
“He trained Snoke to do what he did when he was the in control of the Galactic Empire.
“When Snoke took control, he was overthrown by Kylo Ren the same way Sidious was overthrown by Darth Vader, it’s like a cycle that started over and ended the same way.”

They added: “Since Snoke failed, that gave Sidious the chance to come back.
“Isn’t [it] kind of strange that after Snoke died, Sidious would return?”
Certainly, it’s popular theory among fans that Palpatine has been using Snoke as a puppet all along.
Meanwhile, there’s another big theory that Han Solo is Rey’s daughter by another woman.
Some fans wondered if she could have been Qi’ra’s daughter with Han.
However, Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo has weighed in on this theory.
He tweeted: “That doesn’t fit with the timeline. Han and Leia were together up until about 5 years before TFA (The Force Awakens) when it all went to hell, and Rey is 19.”
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
