Strictlys Shirley Ballas gives update on doctors appointment after viewers spotted lump under arm

Strictly Come Dancing star Shirley Ballas gave fans an update on Tuesday following her doctor's appointment after viewers spotted a "lump under her right arm".

On Saturday, the head judge, 61, revealed that she had sought medical advice after being inundated with "alarming messages" from her fans.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Shirley posted a video as she thanked those "beautiful kind caring humans" looking out for her and revealed that she would be having "full blood work" done at the hospital on Friday.

Writing a caption, the Strictly star penned: "Lump an Body MOT for women.

"Dear All thank you so much for making me aware of a lump you all saw under my arm. I am so grateful to have so many beautiful kind caring humans looking out for me.

"I will be popping to the Hospital Friday for full blood work,, Hormones could be the reason for exhaustion ,, sleepless nights and a few more things going on.

"I’m so happy I went for a check up today. Ladies let me know how your hormones are ? Do you self check ? Hugs to all #breastcheck #hormones."

In her accompanying video, Shirley explained that the doctor had done both an underarm and breast test but that she "couldn't feel anything" although she too thought she had spotted something when she lifted her arm.

The head judge said: "Hi everyone, I popped to the doctor this morning she did an underarm test and breast test. She couldn’t feel anything although she also thought that she saw something when I lifted my arm up so… maybe it was cameras, lighting, not sure."

Shirley added that they discovered that her hormone levels are "all over the place" so she will be having full blood work done at the hospital on Friday.

Signing off her message, she said: "But to all the kind ladies who reached out to me and sent me those messages out of concern and love from their heart… I do love you, I love all my fans dearly, and you’re super super sweet. Thank you!

"To all the women out there, get checked, keep checking yourself, it’s important… don’t put anything off."

Shirley was supported by several of her Strictly co-stars with Katya Jones writing: "Thank you for your honesty and raising awareness for women Shirley," followed by a heart emoji.

While Claudia Winkleman added a series of heart emojis.

It comes after Shirley revealed on Saturday that she had booked a doctor's appointment after viewers spotted a "lump under her right arm".

Taking to Instagram at the time, the head judge posted a video as she explained that she had been inundated with "alarming messages" as she thanked those for reaching out with their "concerns".

Shirley said: "So hi everybody! Last week and the week before, I got some alarming messages about people who said that when I pick my arm up they could see lumps, bumps, nodes or whatever.

"So I just did a self check on myself and I couldn’t feel anything except a tiny little node at the back, but I'm going to go to the doctors on Tuesday and to all women out there, please keep checking yourself.

"And to those people who were concerned enough to send me messages that they saw those lumps and bumps I am very very grateful.

"Female self-check at any age to just check we don’t have any little lumps or bumps under our arms… or anywhere else for that matter. But anyway, with gratitude, thank you!"

Shirley captioned the video with: "So many messages over the last three weeks about suspected lump under my right arm. I have done a self check and will go to my Dr on Tuesday.

"Thank you to those who reached out with their concerns. To all be vigilant and do self checks regularly. #selfcheck #nodes #breastcancerawareness #gratitude #thankyou."
