'The Challenge': Drake and Rihanna Are Following a Few Fan-Favorites on Instagram

Artists Drake and Rihanna are fans of The Challenge and recently began following a few competitors on Instagram. Due to the recognition, the official Challenge Twitter account changed its name and edited its biography.

‘The Challenge’ renewed for season 36

Following a record-breaking season, the long-running MTV competition series The Challenge returned for Double Agents.

Featuring 20 returning competitors and 10 rookies, including Survivor winner Natalie Anderson, Olympian and reality star Lolo Jones, and WWE professional wrestler Lio Rush, the players, competed as duos this season.

Winning a daily mission gave them power as double agents, which allowed them to see how everyone “secretly” voted. Additionally, the teammates could throw themselves into elimination or choose any duo to compete against the pair the majority of the house selected.

For the second season in a row, the gold skull twist returned, which forces the competitors to win an elimination to qualify for the finals and grand prize. The winner also can infiltrate another team and steal a partner or stick with their teammate.

‘Big Brother’ alliance running the house

Former Big Brother stars, including winners Kaycee Clark and Josh Martinez, Amber Borzotra, Fessy Shafaat, Lolo Jones, their partners, and Cory Wharton, made up the dominating BB alliance.

They controlled the house from the first vote when they blindsided veteran CT Tamburello into the first elimination. Even though it backfired, they successfully blocked him from becoming the house vote, forcing him to win a daily mission and throw himself in.

When CT asked several competitors to give him Josh, the player he perceived the easiest to steal the skull from, they refused and voted in Devin Walker instead.

However, a security breach gave the veteran what he asked for and allowed him to choose both matchups for the double-elimination. Ultimately, CT eliminated Josh, taking out one of their important numbers.

Drake and Rihanna following Kaycee Clark and Josh Martinez

Following his elimination, Josh appeared on the official Challenge podcast and talked about running into pop star Rihanna with Fessy and Kaycee.

According to the BB19 champ, the singer called herself a huge fan of the show and noted she watched it often with her boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky.

Additionally, he claimed she asked to join their alliance and admitted she wouldn’t mind competing on the reality series.

After the Feb. 24 episode, she and arguably the most well-known rapper Drake began following several popular contestants from the show. He followed veteran Cory Wharton, who thanked his “idol” in an Instagram Story.

The Real World star also noted he has “looked up to” the rapper for years. Additionally, Drake followed Aneesa Ferreira, who reacted by claiming she doesn’t care her co-stars didn’t “f**k” with her because the “God’s Plan” rapper does.

Rihanna, who already followed Kaycee after she won Big Brother 20, began following Kam Williams and Josh, and they both thanked the “Kiss It Better” singer on their Instagram Story.

The Challenge’s official Twitter account caught wind of the follows and changed their name to “Bad Gal TJ,” paying homage to Rihanna’s “Bad Gal RiRi.” They also edited their bio to include a “part-time Rihanna stan account.”

The Challenge 36 airs Wednesdays at 8/7 Central on MTV.
