The Flash is a popular series hailing from the Arrowverse and season seven has been airing on The CW. The first three episodes wrapped up the latest graphic novel storyline and a new story will begin in episode four. Season seven began with Barry (played by Grant Gustin) discovering his speed was running out – but how fast can he run?
How fast can Barry Allen run?
Superhero The Flash is from the DC universe and he is known for his super-speed, which he uses to help him fight crime.
By tapping into the Speed Force, he has the ability to outrun villains and always be one step ahead of them.
The seventh season of The Flash saw Barry in trouble as he was running out of power when he needed it most.
He was determined to save his wife Iris (Candice Patton) from the Mirrorverse, but he was worried he would not have the strength to get her back.
Fans have often wondered just how fast he can run, and they have taken to Reddit to discuss his powers.
One said: “I was thinking about Flash’s power, he can run fast to us but to him he is running at a normal speed or he could even be walking half the time and we wouldn’t know. So how fast can he really run, please someone help me out here I need to know.”
One fan responded: “I believe Barry in the comics pre-speed force was still decently fast compared to the average.”
Whereas another viewer suggested his speed was slower than the average person without the assistance of the Speed Force.
They referred to an episode in one of the first-ever seasons, during which a villain stole Flash’s speed.
They said: “He was running on the treadmill without it. Cisco said ‘wow…he runs slow even for a normal person’.”
Before Barry became The Flash he was not known for being an avid runner, so there is no reason why he would be able to run faster than anyone else.
Another viewer added: “He wasn’t a track runner so without the Speed Force he’s got the speed for someone his build who lacks proper form.”
The Speed Force is an energy field that pushes space and time forward, allowing The Flash to travel at superfast speed.
With Speed Force, he is able to run at 2,532 miles per hour – compared to the average speed of 28 miles per hour.
The Flash’s speed is not quite the speed of light, which is approximately 670,616,629 miles per hour.

How many episodes are in The Flash season 7? [INSIGHT]
In the current season, The Flash saw himself diminishing back into the old Barry as he only had one percent of his Speed Force energy remaining.
This could not have come at a worse time as he woke from his frozen state to find villain Eva McCulloch (Efrat Dor) causing havoc.
Eventually, Eva saw the error of her ways and she attempted to join Barry in destroying her duplicate fighters.
At the end of the episode, fans discovered Barry and Iris had released different coloured lightning bolts when they reignited the Speed Force.
The colours were red, green, yellow and blue, and fans are keen to know what this signifies.
Episode four of the seventh season, titled Central City Strong, will air on March 23 and it will mark the start of a new story.
The episode will see the notorious villain, Abra Kadabra (David Dastmalchian) return to Central City with a vengeance.
Now Iris is back from the Mirrorverse, she will be forced to confront some dark times from her past.
The Flash airs on Tuesdays on The CW.
