The Grand Tour fans are in luck as it’s been confirmed that the show, fronted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, will be as grand as ever following coronavirus.
It’s no secret that all shows have been hit hard by the pandemic, with fans naturally worrying about the car show, which sees the hosts travelling around the world, especially given the current travel restrictions.
However, Amazon’s Director of European Originals, Georgia Brown, insisted fans have got nothing to worry about.
She said at Edinburgh TV Festival (via Radio Times): ‘Of all of our talent, these guys are fearless. They will go anywhere, they will do anything. So no, it continues. We have more Grand Tour coming, we have more of their individual projects coming.
‘Every single show has been impacted, but it’s not stopping our ambition to go around the world and film in these incredible places.’
She added: ‘We’re not downsizing, put it that way.’
Sounds like there will be some very happy fans on the edge of their seats waiting for filming to continue.
Meanwhile, James (also affectionately known as ‘Captain Slow’ on the series) has had a slightly more cynical outlook on the whole affair.
Opening up about being ‘fired’ from many jobs in the past, he explained the pandemic certainly hasn’t helped things.
‘I mean, one of the results of coronavirus is that quite a few bits of work I had planned, you know, a couple of travel shows, following on from Man In Japan, the big specials with The Grand Tour, and other ideas I’ve had,’ he explained
‘They’ve all been postponed for the moment indefinitely because we can’t travel.’
James added to Andy Jay on talkRADIO show Driven: ‘We can’t do the sort of things we want to do with social distancing and quarantine rules in place.
‘I’ve been fired by circumstance. I’ve been fired by the world.’
That’s the spirit, James!
The Grand Tour is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
