The Masked Singer fans finally ‘rumble Badger’s identity’ before final

Daily Star’s Inside Hot TV newsletter lets Ed Gleave send you telly’s hot takes every Sunday

The Masked Singer UK viewers are convinced they have beaten ITV producers to working out the true identity of Badger ahead of the final tonight.

Over the past few weeks the nation has been flocking to social media and Google to try and piece together the clues left by the secret star.

Now, after countless guesses, it seems the majority of them are fixed on the furry singer being Grammy Award winning singer Ne-Yo.

Despite Badger sometimes speaking to host Joel Dommett in a British accent, his voice has seemingly changed throughout the weeks leading fans to think it is a fake accent.

They have also uncovered an old tweet from Ne-Yo appearing to confirm he was the UK last Autumn when the show was filmed.

Taking to Twitter, to debate the celeb behind the mask, one fan wrote: "That Badger is Ne-yo I AM TELLING YOU. I’m so passionate about it.

"This is what lockdown has done to me."

Another added: "Can’t wait to see Ne-Yo being unmasked as the badger tonight. Honest to god, I will be SHOCKED if it isn’t him.

"Got a bet on with my brother as well so it NEEDS to be him #MaskedSingerUK"

A third chimed in: "Badger is Ne-Yo and I won't hear anything else #maskedsinger"

However, not everyone is convinced it's the American crooner.

One fan questioned: "Why is everyone so convinced Badger is Ne-Yo? #TheMaskedSingerUK"

While Ne-Yo is the bookies favourite to be Badger, Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom admits the guessing game is wide open.

He said: "The Masked Singer may have captivated people up and down the land in 2021, but the biggest riddle of all is still bamboozling amateur sofa sleuths – just who is Badger?

"While there are odds-on favourites in the forms of Aston Merrygold at 1/2 to be Robin and Sheridan Smith at 11/8 to be Sausage, the furry biker has everyone stumped.

"Ne-Yo is the current 11/10 favourite to be Badger, followed by Peter Andre at 2/1 and Adam Lambert at 3/1 – but having concealed themselves so well, the unmasking will come as a surprise to everybody come Saturday night."

Sam added: "The polished performances of Robin sees him as 6/4 favourite to win the show – but he is very closely followed by Badger at 15/8 and Sausage at 2/1 in what the odds suggest will be an incredibly tense final of everyone's favourite detective show."

Meanwhile Masked Singer judge Jonathan Ross has let slip the celeb dressed as Badger is one of the younger viewers.

Jonathan, 60, told the Mirror's Showbiz Editor Mark Jefferies: "Badger is one I didn’t get, and you probably wouldn’t get it either because of our age.

"I think that it’s one the younger crowd will know."

The final three contestants who will battle it out to be crowned winner of series two of The Masked Singer UK are Badger, Robin and Sausage.
