Tipping Point fans pleaded for strength as a player made a cringe 'Counter Town' pun.

The ITV quiz series welcomed a contestant called Olly, who was having a rough time getting counters to drop in the opening round, on Friday afternoon.

After answering a number of questions successfully with no joy, Olly was granted the opportunity to play one more time, leading to the questionable gag.

Host Ben Shephard asked him: "Do you play that last counter? What are you thinking?"

In response, Olly replied: "There's a little bit of a gap on drop zone four there, Ben and I think the slightest little nudge and I could be in Counter Town."

Ben laughed and replied: "Counter Town.? Let's go to Counter Town."

Olly added: "I'll have a one-way ticket to Counter Town. Drop zone number four please, Ben."

Tipping Point viewers were far from impressed with the banter, and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One viewer wrote: "A one – way ticket to Counter Town… give me strength."

Another commented: "Ticket to Counter Town? Fecking hell. So cheesy."

A third viewer wrote: "Counter Town? What a w***ish thing to say."

Meanwhile, a fourth fan concluded: "Bye bye Olly no trip to jackpot Counter Town."

Olly narrowly survived the episode's first round, beating Nikki in a tense penalty pot tie-breaker.

He was eventually ousted in the second round, leaving contestants Lauren and Jason to battle it out for the chance to take home the jackpot.

Lauren was left as the last player standing.

Opting not to risk going for the jackpot counter, she walked away with an impressive £3,450, vowing to treat her dogs with the winnings.

She said to host Ben Shephard: "It's been great. Thank you so much."

Tipping Point airs at 4pm weekdays on ITV.
