Where are Coronation Street’s Battersbys now? From trolling hell to explosive axeings

HAVE you ever wondered where the Battersbys are now?

The family, which moved in at No.5 Coronation Street a whopping 24 years ago, originally consisted of Janice, husband Les, daughter Toyah and step-daughter Leanne.

After Janice became fed up of Les' lazy ways in 2001, the taxi driver found love with Cilla Brown, which meant that her son Chesney was welcomed into the family with open arms.

While Leanne (Jane Danson), sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Chesney (Sam Aston) are still regulars on the show, their parents and a couple of other family members have either sadly passed or moved away for the Cobbles.

These include the likes of Vicky Entwistle, Bruce Jones and Wendi Peters.

So let's have a look at what they're all up to at the moment…

Vicky Entwistle (Janice Battersby)

Vicky joined the ITV soap in 1997 as Janice, the wife of Les and mother of Leanne and Toyah.

But the machinist soon had enough of Les' lazy antics and left him for bin man Trevor Dean, and the lovers decided to travel the world together.

53-year-old Vicky is most known 14 year stint on the hit show, but she has had plenty of other roles since her departure in 2011.

Vicky has starred in various theatre shows including Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Les Miserables and Sleeping Beauty.

The actress also dipped her toes into the realm of reality TV as she appeared on the 12th series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.

Bruce Jones (Les Battersby)

After 10 years on the show, Bruce was suspended for spilling the beans about upcoming scenes and also slagging off his co-stars to an undercover reporter.

ITV bosses decided to make the suspension a permanent thing and he's not been back since.

Whilst he was on the soap he was battling his addiction with alcohol, which soon got him into trouble in 2000 and resulted in him booking himself into The Priory.

His addiction also got him in trouble again in 2010 after he was sent to prison for drink-driving.

Bruce has appeared in a number of reality shows since Coronation Street, including Celebrity Wife Swap, Famous, Rich and Homeless, Celebrity Come Dine With Me, Celebrity Big Brother and Netflix's The Ripper.

After his departure he also appeared in a number of theatre shows including Dick Whittington and Peter Pan.

But could he be returning to Corrie?

Fans of the show were convinced that Les may make an epic comeback after Toyah made a reference about him earlier this week.

Wendi Peters (Cilla Battersby-Brown)

Actress Wendi played Les' love interest Cilla from 2003 to 2007.

She moved into the street two years after daughter Fizz and eventually tied the knot with Les.

However her world came tumbling down in 2007 when Les decided to become a roadie, so she decided to follow in his footsteps and left her family behind in Weatherfield.

Like her other co-stars she's appeared reality shows such as The Great British Sewing Bee, Flockstars and The Great British Sewing Bee.

She's also bagged herself roles in Hetty Feather, Crime Stories and most recently, medical soap Doctors.

Although Wendi's biggest passion is theatre and musicals.

She's starred in White Christmas, Hatched 'n' Dispatched, Sleeping Beauty and Oh, What a Lovely War!

The star is due to star in musical You Are Here from May 17 to June 12 2021.

Jane Danson (Leanne)

Jane joined Coronation Street back in 1997 and portrayed troublesome teen Leanne until 2000.

She decided to run away with Nick Tisley, but after their relationship broke down, she decided to leave Weatherfield.

Her alter-ego has been involved in a number of dramatic storylines including prostitution, having an affair with Danny Baldwin and taking part in an insurance scam.

But most recently fans have been left worried as her life seems to be spiralling out of control again.

The PA sadly lost her three-year-old son Oliver to an incurable form of mitochondrial disease last year. Since then she's been selling drugs to try and protect her eldest son Simon.

When Jane wasn't on Corrie, she starred in The Bill from 2002 to 2003, and also appeared in the 11th series of Dancing on Ice.

Georgia Taylor (Toyah)

Toyah didn't get off to the best of starts on the show considering her boyfriend Spider Nugget left Weatherfield shortly after they got together.

In 2003 she was left heart broken again, so she decided that she wanted to move away from the Cobbles.

Toyah is currently in a relationship with Imran Habeeb and they are looking to adopt their own child together.

During her 13 year break, Georgia starred in Casualty from 2007 to 2011 and Law & Order: UK 2013 to 2014.

Most recently she had to hit back at a vile troll who commented on what she looked like when she first joined the soap.

The viewer commented on how she looked as a teen, to which the actress replied with: "In Classic Corrie I was playing a 15 year old schoolgirl but hey whatever floats your massive pervy boat."

Sam Aston (Chesney Brown)

Sam first hit our screens as the adorable Chesney Brown in 2003 and has been on the show ever since.

He's certainly not had it easy considering he was in and out of care because of his terrible mother Cilla.

Now Chesney is dad to Joseph, who is shares with Katy Armstrong.

Not only that he's father to quadruplets Alex, Bryn, Carys and Llio – who he welcomed into the world with Gemma Winter in 2019.

Sam has been a regular on the show and has starred in a whopping 10, 286 episodes.

He's certainly followed in the same footsteps as his alter-ego as he became a dad to baby Sonny last year.
