The Paramount Network’s surprise hit Yellowstone will be returning for a fourth instalment next year, but latecomers to the series have some catching up to do. Unfortunately, its sloppy streaming debut has baffled potential new viewers who weren’t able to catch season three the first time round.

The third season of Yellowstone has finally been made available to stream for those who missed out when the series was originally broadcast over the summer.

Fans agree Taylor Sheridan delivered the most riveting instalment yet, which culminated in a series of violent attacks on ranch owner John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) and his powerful family.

From humble beginnings, the modern Western drama has become a surprise hit for Paramount, pulling in millions of viewers each episode during the third season.

Unfortunately, some fans have been left out in the cold by Yellowstone’s latest streaming release.

A recent reshuffling of US streaming platforms has caused widespread confusion, as audiences are still unsure where certain series will become available.

In September 2020, CBSViacom announced CBS All Access would be succeeded by Paramount+ in a rebranding set to focus more on feature film releases.

This news raised a number of concerns for fans of Yellowstone, who speculated the series could be cancelled to make way for Paramount’s catalogue of upcoming blockbusters.

Moreover, despite airing live on Paramount’s cable network, Yellowstone signed over exclusive streaming rights to NBC’s new service, Peacock.

As the third season is set to debut on the platform on November 22, fans revived their disappointment that their CBS All Access subscription wouldn’t be including the new season of Yellowstone.

To make matters worse, international fans have to endure an even longer wait, as the second season is only just coming to My5 in the UK this month.

In the midst of all the streaming chaos, some disgruntled fans took to Reddit to call for easier access to their favourite series.

Redditor matzco kicked off the discussion and said: “OK, now I’m thoroughly confused. CBS+ is being rebranded as Paramount+ to avoid confusion as to what content is available on it.

“Now, arguably the current flagship show on THE PARAMOUNT NETWORK, is syndicated on NBC’s streaming service! I’m lost, confused, and honestly a bit angry.”

As more and more streaming apps have started to pop up over the last year, audiences have had to fork over more fees each month to ensure they can still tune in to the shows they love.

Comments from fans amid Yellowstone and Paramount’s rearranging this year have seen some viewers reach a breaking point.

Another fan replied: “Believe me when I say, it equally gives me a headache trying to figure this s**t out too.”

With platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu becoming a standard fixture in households across the globe, watching TV is quickly becoming an incredibly expensive pastime.

Despite Yellowstone’s third season becoming the most-watched series on cable TV in the States, its limited access in other territories could cause problems down the line.

Showrunner Taylor Sheridan has hinted at least another two seasons are in the works, but Yellowstone could come to an abrupt end if enough disgruntled fans start to switch off.

Yellowstone will return to Paramount with season 4 in 2021.
