A man and woman have been charged in relation to the death of a two-year-old boy in London last year.

Kyrell Matthews was found in cardiac arrest at a house in Thornton Heath, Croydon on October 29, 2019.

Police launched an investigation after the toddler's death, and now more than a year later have laid charges against two people.

Phylesia Shirley, 23, and Kemar Brown, 27, were both charged with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child on Monday.

They will appear virtually from custody at Bromley Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
