Boy, 6, ‘strangled and kicked by child thugs’ as he played on scooter in park

A six-year-old boy was kicked, strangled and robbed by a gang of child thugs at a skate park, police have said.

The youngster was happily playing on his scooter in Princess Diana Park, Banbury, when he was set upon by the mini mob on the evening of Thursday, August 19.

Six children, believed to be aged from around six to 13, fell upon the young boy, strangling him and kicking him as he lay defenceless on the ground at about 6pm.

The boy did not need to go to hospital but was left with bruising on his legs.

His black scooter with orange handlebars was also stolen in the incident, The Sun reports.

The victim had been playing on the skate ramp in the park at the time of the attack.

Thames Valley Police are now asking witnesses to come forward to help them with their enquiry into the attack.

Thames Valley Police investigating officer PC Darius Horton, based at Banbury police station, said in a statement: “I am appealing to anybody who was at the park around the time of the incident who believes they may have any information that could help our investigation to come forward."
