Crash brings Pena Boulevard toward Denver International Airport to a halt, officials warn of delays – The Denver Post

A crash on Pena Boulevard has hampered the road to one lane before 56th Avenue on Thursday morning.

Traffic is being rerouted around the crash which occurred near Tower Road. A semi-truck hit a parked car waiting to be towed, according to Denver police. The truck then caught fire.

Denver International Airport warned that getting to the airport will take longer than usual and recommend against using Pena Boulevard if possible.

Possible detour routes are to take Interstate 70 to E-470 back to Pena Blvd or use RTD’s A-Line.

Denver police said one person was transported to the hospital with unknown injures.

There’s no estimated time for a full reopening of the road.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
