Interstate 25 shut down in Loveland following crash involving two semi trucks

Interstate 25 is closed in both directions in Loveland by a traffic crash involving two semi trucks.

The crash happened at about 12:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes, said Master Trooper Gary Cutler, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman. One of the two trucks involved in the crash caught fire and that driver suffered burns, Cutler said.

The crash happened beneath the Colorado 34 overpass, Cutler said. The overpass is also shut down because of the crash. Drivers should avoid the area if possible, and traffic is being detoured. There is no anticipated time for reopening. Staff with the Colorado Department of Transportation is checking the bridge for structural integrity.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
